Make way for a new breed of mini yogini's and yogi's

Just think about it.

How powerful.

Fortunately for us in the UK, the government is making this a higher priority for our schools than it ever has been and, whether we have children ourselves or not, this can only be a good thing for future generations. This is sadly where we don't actually yet know the neurological implications of prolonged screen usage will have on children, but we do know that children now face very different challenges to those that may have affected previous generations; exam pressures, family breakdowns, political unrest, social media, cyberbullying, teenage suicide and self-harming. Acknowledging the fact that whilst attainment and exam results are huge factors in education, the whole of the child should be nurtured. The mental health and well-being of the child are paramount.

It is massively encouraging to know this kind of awakening is happening for our young people and as a result of this awareness, I was invited to present a workshop to 30 primary school teachers in February to give teachers an idea of how they can introduce some concepts and practices of yoga into their classrooms.

Please have a look at the article published in the Daily Telegraph referring to a debate held in the House of Commons in September 2016 (and the transcript of which here)  and also the government's guidance on "Promoting children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing".

It makes for interesting reading and I’d love to hear what you think about it.
