It’s all about balance

On the yoga mat during this course of classes, we will explore physical balances with asana practise, elements of mantra (chanting), relaxation techniques and pranayama (breathing exercises). Taking this time out of a hectic schedule to invest some energy into you will bring about a sense of equilibrium, perhaps allowing you to view life’s normal challenges from a different perspective or with fresh eyes. 

Side-, forward- and backwards bending to maintain physical fitness, manage weight and improve flexibility, strength and suppleness. The physical practise, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques can help you find ways of being more adaptable and resilient off the mat. The philosophical side of yoga will be subtly woven through this new 6-week course with a pinch of fun and a whole heap of relaxation. Suitable for all abilities, all are welcome.

The investment for the whole six week course is £42. Individual classes are £8 and depend entirely on availability. When booking an individual class, please make sure you detail which date of class you would like to attend. Please refer to my T's & C's for the finer details.

Children’s Yoga

It’s never too early to introduce a young person to the benefits of a regular mindful practice such as yoga.

During this 90-minute practice, we will enjoy a physical yoga class based around a fun story so the children can move their bodies in a safe, non-competing way, making friends with other local children. I will introduce the group to some relaxation and meditation techniques which, with practice, will aid their concentration in school and help them to improve their self-esteem and self-confidence. Your child will get the opportunity to take part in a crafting activity to create something special that they can take home with them to help them during times when they feel anxious, worried or upset.

The investment for 90-min class is £10 and spaces are on a first come, first served basis. I will be limiting the number of spaces - the class size will be kept deliberately small so that each child has plenty of my attention. Please refer to my T's & C's for the finer details.

NB I would respectfully ask that you make sure your child actually wants to come along to the event. In my experience, if the child doesn't want to be there, it can be upsetting for them and their behaviour can become disruptive for other children who are enjoying it.

I want all the children to leave having had a positive experience of yoga.

Tri-Weekly Quiet Club

Life can be hectic and the chatter of your mind can become noisy. A regular practise of purposeful silence can provide you with clarity and focus during busy times and studies have proven that you can begin to enjoy many things including a better self awareness, better sleep quality, increased levels of happiness and physiologically, better cardiovascular and immune health. It is even commonly accepted that reduced amounts of stress in the body can slow the rate of ageing.

Come along for a short period of stillness, concentration or meditation with a small group of like-minded people. There will be some very gentle movement and focus on the breath but no experience of yoga or meditation is necessary. Booking is essential and places are limited because I would like to keep this as a smaller group.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring along a cushion, bolster or yoga brick for ease of sitting. Chairs are available if you are not comfortable to sit on the floor.

Women’s Wellness

A six-week course of lunch-time classes beginning in January 2019 to celebrate the feminine.

The focus of the classes will be around the svadhistasana or sacral chakra, located near to the reproductive organs. It is said to govern menstrual health and fertility as well as being the source of our creativity and vibrancy.

All women are welcome for this fluid, gentle practice which will have poses to concentrate on mobility and stability of the spine, hips, abdomen and pelvic region. We will enjoy physical postures as well as elements of pranayama (breathing exercises), relaxation and meditation. Pregnant women (over 16 weeks) are welcome to enjoy this practice.

There will be an opportunity post-practice to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with the group and with me to encourage a sense of community and support.

Be yoga fit at home. Some previous yoga courses have been recorded as yoga tutorials for a home practice are available to buy. It is intended that you use these videos alongside a regular yoga lesson with me. (You are able to contact me to arrange private tuition of these courses.)

Pregnancy & Post-Natal Yoga

Pre-natal yoga classes are due to begin in September 2018 in conjunction with Bahia Yoga in Nottingham. The 45-min lunch time classes will be accessible to those with limited mobility but will be specifically tailored for pregnant women (+16 weeks gestation).

Children's Yoga

Exposing children to yoga from a young age and in a school setting can be hugely beneficial in terms of introducing non-competitive exercise, improving the quality of a child's sleep, better concentration and the ability to form meaningful relationships.

If you work in a school and are interested to introduce yoga sessions to your children, please complete a registration form and I will gladly send you some more information.

There are currently no after school children's yoga courses. If you would like to register your interest, please complete a registration form and I will contact you in due course. You are also able to get in touch for information on group yoga sessions for children's or yoga parties
